Our Story
Girasol Montessori School was founded in 2019 with the vision of creating an authentic and peaceful Montessori community for children and families. Our founder, originally from Costa Rica, moved to Minnesota in 2007 and brings a wealth of experience in Montessori education, Early Childhood Education, and child psychology.
Our school believes in the transformative power of the Montessori philosophy, inspired by the success stories of children thriving in this environment. Our founder’s journey began as a Montessori parent and led to an AMI primary teaching accreditation from the Montessori Center of Minnesota in 2010. This foundation has shaped our commitment to providing high-quality Montessori education.
At Girasol Montessori School, we are proud of our team of trained and skilled staff who are dedicated to fostering a nurturing and enriching environment. Our educators bring diverse experiences from various roles within both non-profit organizations and private institutions. From Lead Guides to administrative roles, our staff understands all facets of a Montessori school, ensuring a comprehensive and authentic experience for our students.
We place a strong emphasis on bilingual education, recognizing its cognitive and cultural benefits. Rather than following a set curriculum, we are guided by Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy of following the child. Our focus is on nurturing social, emotional, and language development, fostering independence and cross-cultural understanding through immersion in both English and Spanish.
